Message from the Chairman (Jan 2011): I hope that everyone enjoyed Christmas and the New Year and that we can all look forward to a successful 2011.  This year I made a point of watching the Queen's speech (God bless her) on Christmas day, because it had a particular relevance for people who give up their own time to participate in and coach local sports.  I have always believed that participation in sport gives so much to people, particularly children, beyond the obvious benefit of fitness. Social skills, working together through ups and downs, fun and a sense of acceptance are all part of belonging to a club like Saltford Stars. They are all things that can stay with a person for life.  The benefits are there for everyone to see, and my own children's lives and my own life have been enhanced and much richer for being involved with local sport.  Why not take the Queen's advice and get involved yourself with local sport and volunteering. You will always be welcome at Saltford Stars, and we can offer opportunities for coaching and refereeing or get in touch if you just want to give us a hand with running the club.  Give it a try. We always need your help, and you won't regret it

Committee Chairman

 Saltford Nominated at BANES awards

We were delighted to find recently that Saltford Stars JFC had been nominated as Sports Club of The Year at the annual BANES presentation evening; representatives from the club attended the prestigious evening at the Guild Hall in Bath.  Unfortunately we were beaten to the accolade by the Bath Sword Club, but congratulations go to all at the club for their work this year.  There's a lot of work from a small group of volunteers that goes on behind the scenes at the club, and although we ask for nothing more than seeing the kids enjoy themselves and progress with their football, gestures like this do make a difference and all at the club should feel very proud.  This ofcourse follows our success last season when we were voted the Chartered Standard Club of the Year by the Somerset FA...keep up the good work guys!

Support Cameron and Jo as they swap the 'Shirt of Hurt'.

Calling all Saltford Stars and Parents - On Saturday 20th March please bring some spare change along to training to support Cameron George (devout Rovers fan) and Jo Hardwick (devout City fan) as they swap shirts to raise money for Sports Relief.  Good luck guys!!!

Merry Xmas from Saltford Stars JFC

I hope that everyone is enjoying the season, especially now that the weather is turning wet, cold and windy!

The importance of activities like football is undoubted and gives our youngsters a sense of belonging, pride and structure. On behalf of you all I would like to thank our volunteers who work so hard to provide football for our youngsters to enjoy. The service they provide is invaluable, and they should have no doubt that they are doing their bit for our community.

The power of sport in the community was brought home to me when I attended the memorial match for Jack Boulton at Keynsham Town a few weeks ago. The event was excellently organized and was attended by hundreds of people. It was a fitting tribute to such a good person and raised over £8000 for the charity Cardiac Risk in the Young. Our U9 team had the great experience of playing under lights in front of the big crowd and everyone enjoyed their enthusiasm and energy.

Please have a safe and peaceful Christmas from everyone involved at Saltford Stars JFC and if you feel like becoming more involved yourself in the New Year, please get in touch at mail@saltfordstarsjfc.co.uk.

The New Season

Welcome to the new football season with Saltford Stars JFC. As it says below, we can begin the season with the great news that we were awarded Charter Standard Club of the Year 2009 by the Somerset FA at their prestigious ceremony in Bridgewater. Nigel & I were delighted to accept the award on our behalf, and is the best recognition of the good work that continues to be done at the club.

As I have previously mentioned, Saltford Stars is fully behind the FA Respect campaign. You will notice changes at matches for this season, especially in the AYL where touchline barriers will be erected behind which all spectators must stand for the duration of the game. Your coach will be outlining our expectations for the coming season before the first match.

We are working hard at the club to build a reputation in the football and wider community for fairness, quality and friendliness. Football is an emotive game, and with common sense and good humour it is there to be enjoyed by everyone.

Thank you for your continued support of Saltford Stars. Good luck to everyone for the coming season. Let's make sure that we can all look back on a successful and memorable year.

Saltford Stars JFC voted Charter Standard Club of the Year 2008/09

27th June - Stars back to school
Saltford Stars JFC went back to school today to run a stand at the Saltford Primary School summer fair.  Massive credit to the local PTA who organised the event; and fingers crossed for beating last year's total funds raised.  A big thank you to all those who helped on our football shooting target stand - see picture above with us showing off our Charter Standard Club of the year pennant; we had a really good time and enjoyed the whole afternoon.  A special well done to our three winners:
Simon Parsons - Adults
Jacob Mercer - Key Stage 2
Thomas Campbell - Key Stage 1
